Change to Trailer Width Rule |
|
Just seen this on one of the trailer hire sites. I knew it was being discussed, but didnt know it was now done:
Change to Trailer Width Rule
Following consultation the DfT have announced the removal of the 2.3 metre width limit for light trailers towed behind a vehicle with Maximum Authorised Mass less than 3500 kg ie most cars and 4x4's. The width limit for light trailers (i.e. categories O1 and O2) up to 3500 kg MAM is now 2.55 metres irrespective of the towing vehicle, be it car, 4x4 or qualifying commercial vehicle.. This brings the UK into line with the rest of Europe. In the past the limit was 2.3 metres unless the towing vehicle was a qualifying commercial vehicle with MAM over 3500 kg
So all you chaps with Hobby's/Fendt's/Tabbart's are now legal (bloody pikeys the lot of them )

Sad to see the passage of another real British Standard. Although expressed recently in meters, the limit was still the original 7' 6". A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.
