Sunroof Support Arms Cracking

I never usually open the sunroof but I had it open today to rod-out the drains with a net curtain wire (yep, had the sudden rush of water after a downpour - landed on the wife). I noticed that the black plastic support arms that hinge up our of the runner are cracking in major way in more than one place.

I shut the roof with due dread but it seems to have shut ok, but they will need fixing. Given that roof only gets opened to be serviced or for drain access I am rather surprised that the arms have failed in such a way.

Does anyone know how to fix them and rough idea of the costs? I'm not that gifted with such repairs but the dealer prices are a good encouragement!

I've had 2 roofs replaced under warrantly for the same reason.....I put it down to driving with the roof open and that viration from the glass roof into the arms was causing the damage to the arms. I'm surprised therefore to read Robbies comments that he doesnt open the roof, and thus that the arms will fail statically.

I guess that in the last 5 years i have only had the roof open on about 4 occasions. Three of those to check the mechanism was correctly greased and free running and the last time to rod the drains. The cracks are odd in that the fractures are in more than 1 location and the fissures themselves are highly serrated. It looks like the polymers themselves have broken down in the same way that some cheap plastics can be damaged by UV.

It's a poor selection of material by LR but with no warranty I am still hoping that someone on here will have fixed them themselves and have the know-how and parts list.
