To change to a higher spec or modify a base model
Hi All,
A question for those that have upgraded there cars, can you get more done to a better standard by doing aftermarket upgrades and genuine spares from ebay or is it easier and cheaper to upgrade to a higher spec as a starting point??
I would like a keeper for atleast another 5years so want to get it right 10-15K euros to spend on top of what ever mine is worth.
Current Discovery 2004 7 str base model TD. (one of the first of the rack)
upgrades desired
Leather
Upgraded Stereo with Sat Nav and Ipod, multi media for kids
multi function steering wheel (is upgrade possible)
Cruise control
HIDs
other adds for touring but these would be additions anyways.
Forum search will find details on the all for you. I did the lights and steering wheel on my first GS. Leather either through aftermarket conversion or via a scrappy. Stereo / Nav loads of options enjoy "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

I have a base 2006 7 seater, I have added cruise control & stereo controls with a little help from 10Forcash, aux input for Ipods etc, I have had the windows tinted, added genuine side steps, changed to colour coded arches, I also run RRS 19" through summer and std 17" in winter.Remote webasto heater control.
Can't see point of sat navs to be honest tom tom can be updated easier and removed when not in use, leather not a real option as i have a son thats allergic to it, standard stereo belts out just fine. I'd stick with it mate if it's been reliable.Harribo

Same here,
I have a 2005 Base, had it nearly 3 years now and enjoyed every minute of adding extras, its all in the fun of owning a D3.
Also gets you away from SWMBO for a while!!!!
I did the steering wheel upgrade not that long ago, courtesy of TLO (nappa leather - nice!). Fitted it myself with the stereo controls and cruise, Wiggs kindly stopped off in Glasgow and enabled for me.
I've added loads of the mods as well - love it!!!

Apart from the fact that the sat nav is pony and you cant watch telly when your driving...£1500 is better spent elsewhere in the vehicle."you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"
