Sorry i only seem to write anything when I have a problem!!

Had a new Clutch and Flywheel replaced 3 weeks ago, was driving home early hours morning overtook lorry halfway past no power and rapidly dropping (SCARED THE **** OUT OF ME) luckily only the two of us on road. Engine Managment light came on. Switched off waited started off again nothing but didn't feel right or just me being over cautious. Eventually got it to Aberystwth, where they changed the EGR Valves. Had a phone call Friday still doing the same! I was supposed to be on Holiday yesterday (suppose at least i wouldnt be abroad broken down!!) Anybody had same any ideas, garage doesn't have a clue. My patience is waring thin have spent out now over £2000 in less than 5 months.

Could be the turbo overboosting? Makes sense if you lose power, turn it off and back on again and the power is back as it has reset everything. If it overboosts, then the turbo shuts down to protect the engine.

I went to uni in Aberystwyth and had my Defender servived by Land Rover there - is it still Cambrian Land Rover in town?

cheers

Yep still Cambrian. Turbo, but would that come in over a certain rpm?

As you were overtaking, were you accelerating hard? If it did this and cut out, then it could be a possibility. I'm in the trade, but deal with VW vans, and when they lose power and they are turned off and on again it resets everything. It also brings up a fault on the diagnostic machine that states that the turbo has overboosted, so would have thought it would be the same case with the D3.

Presumably it was back to normal after being switched off and on again?

cheers

I can't say it was hard accelerating the first time it happened, I was overtaking. The third time yes it was accelarating harder, I was coming off a roundabout. I drove it literally feathering the throttle for over 50 miles to get to garage. yes it reset itself the minute I switched off. But surely the gargage would have checked this before the EGR valves?

I would have thought so. If it hasn't, there should be a test plan to test the turbo as well

cheers and good luck

All sorted now !There was a pinched wire above the gearbox which had to be taken out again to rectify. After speaking with the dealer and considering the cable damage almost certainly occured when they removed the gearbox to do the clutch a couple of weeks previously, the end result was no charge at all, not even for the 2 EGR valves that they fitted.

Result!!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Was going to suggest a loss of power like this could be due to blocked fuel filter but I won't! Whistle Whistle
