So, I'm looking around at roof rack options and I have come across this photo in the gallery...
Apparently, it's a "Safety Devices" product, but having just spoken to them to get more info I discovered it's not yet in production but was likely in the next few months.
Does anyone know which forum member this D3 belongs to?

Years ago SD made rollcages for motor sport. I had one for the Cooper s, they were well made and neat.
I dont know if they are still going though.

ISTR that Safety Devices used to make all their stuff in the UK, but closed down a few years ago making all the staff redundant. They then reappeared in Poland ISTR. So I think they are manufactured overseas now.
I would like to be proved wrong though, and they are still probably excellent quality products.

Safety Devices are still in business, ownership must have changed as Tony Fall died a couple of years ago. Production used to be Northampton way at one point, but as said a few posts up, I think it has moved to foreign parts - however they are designed in UK and still top quailty. Recently helped put a new one into a Mini Cooper rally shell "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

They still have a website, and claim a new range of roof racks are coming summer 2010. But there does not seem to be anything for a D3. Might be worth asking, though.

Yes, I lived through them going bust, as I needed an SD cage for my rally car. They started up again in (must have been in 2006?) with production out of Poland. They have had a lot of MOD work (LRs for Afghanistan was the rumour) so other items tend to get de-prioritised.Andrew
