Removing the Ally boards from the Expo.

Anybody know how to remove the alloy boards from the expo rack?

I have removed the three "O" ring bolts from the outside of the alloy boards and then can lift the outer edge a little but the edge in the middle seems solid. I assume these are also bolted down somehow.

Do I need to remove the rack first and loosen something?

I have got the expo rack installation destructions but they don't mention the alloy boards at all.

Any help appreciated.

The boards were only fitted on the G4 & LRE versions, got rid of mine years ago but I think there was some fixings underneath (not that I ever tried to take the board off mine)

My thinking is that a G4 and Expo are one of the same except the board, maybe if you no longer requiring the board and somebody has a EXPO, why not swap over................I would if I were closer

There are (3?) allen bolted fixings in the centre of each panel, down to a flat nut in the T-track of the rack cross bar. Remove allen bolt, then lift board. one comes out before the other, but can't remember which!

Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter I love this site. As soon as somebody mentions wanting to remove something there is always somebody willing to buy it. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Sorry Dave the boards are not for sale, for one they have the electric gizmo;'s for the roof lights attached to the bottom of them.

All I was looking to do was remove them temporary as I might need to attach a roof box to the rack and I was wandering if removing the boards and attaching the box to the base was as better option than attaching the box to the top cross bars,

Thanks for the offers though Thumbs Up

In line with the tie down bolts you can see, there are similar bolts hidden under the grip tape. A little gentle probing and you will find where these are. if you can puncture the gripper tape or peal back you will be able to get to the hidden bolt heads.

To refit, you can reverse the process and at worst will need to fit a new short piece of gripper (B&Q) sell correct colour and width. If you are making it "perfect" you will have to replace the whole strip forming that diagonal.

I've got a set of G4 floors for sale, some minimal damage as the person who removed them, didn't work out the hidden fixings could be got at... 5 mins with a wooden block and all would be well. Damage would then be repaired and hidden under the expo rack rails Thumbs Up - Serious offers over £75 as that's what they owe me

Remember doing this to my G4, couldn't see the centre bolts as they were hidden under the gripper tape and there was no indention to act as a clue, in my usual impatient style and thinking I needed to remove the rack I just prised them off with a claw hammer, then spotted the hidden bolts Embarassed

Cheers 90BHP Thumbs Up I will take a ganders at this later this evening.

I did think there would be something hidden just didn't want to start puling at the gripper tape to find I was wrong.
