Key problem, had new key cut/programed, by cutter, turns on ignition but does not start car or lock/unlock.
Went to my local independant Land Rover guy and he could not change the situation either.
It is on my 56 plate Disco, any help/advice on this appreciated.

So you can open and close the car with the new keyfob?
Sounds like its not been coded properly and therefore not deactivating the imobilizer.
Are you sure it's a new unused/uncoded key? Since the blade wasn't cut you did not order it on your VIN number from LR?
Did the independent learned/coded the new key? CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

No this was a key supplied with car from previous owner, but was the wrong key so got a blank & had it cut.
No it does not lock/unlock the car just turns ignition on, dash lights all come on etc.
Both keys were de-programmed and then re-programmed as a 2 key set-up.
Numbers/details on both keyfobs are the same.

With wrong key you mean it had a wrong key blade?

Then that is your problem. A used keyfob cannot be learned/coded to a second vehicle.
You need to get an unused/uncoded/new keyfob in order to pair it with your other key and your car.
Member The Large One (Nick from LR Yeovil) can offer that to you with a discount or you can try to source one from that well known auction site.

Arrrgggghhhh thanks for that, not too bad though would have to get the key cut on new one so can swap that over then just a program & my guy only charges £10 for that, so not a total loss.

10.00 is incredible cheap for coding a key. Paid 40 not that long ago. CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Yes he is good, £40ph labour, done service indicator reset at same time as key all for the £10.00.
But he does all the work on both my Disco 3's, just changed EGR on one, and roll bar bushes and 2 wishbones on the other, plus all servicing etc etc.
Only 2 mins away from home/work, very handy.

My second key does this but is the original key I take it you cant programm the key yourself like most makes as long as you have a working key ?

Unless you have a faulmate you can´t do any of the coding yourself.
If your original key doesn´t work anymore then it´s probably a dead battery.
You can try to replace it carefully, CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

You can try but in your case it wouldn´t matter since it´s been coded to another car before. I don´t think it´s a battery issue. CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS
