Restricted performance
Guys,
D4 came up with restricted performance red triangle yesterday and went into limp mode. Turn off and on a couple of times and engine management light came on and said needs service. Anyway charged battery for a few hours and lights went off when I started engine again. Drove the car for 3 miles or so and up pops the restricted performance and red triangle again.
Checked battery with volt meter this morning and only showing around 8 volts - turn car on and measure only 11volts.
Car booked in for its annual service at the end of the month but would ask for some suggestions. Battery knackerd? Alternator? Car is coming up to 5 years old.
The joys of owning a LR.....
Cheers

If by 'turn car on' you mean 'engine running' then yes, your alternator / charging system has failed. It remains to be seen if it has killed the battery on the way, but best to disconnect it just in case.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

If the battery is fully charged and the alternator is not sucking the life out of it I recon you could make 10 miles. But only do this if you are prepared for a failure; some have only made a couple of miles.
