Air Suspension
Air Suspension
Dear All
Apologies, I posted this under the D4 section !!!
Having read through all the posts for this and experienced minor suspension problems which seemed to clear itself, I'm now getting " normal height only " warning
It was clearing after switching it off and on, but now seems to be a constant.
It doesn't seems to effect the handling, having driven from Aberdeen to Glasgow yesterday.
The only thing that bothers me is that I'm off to France in a few weeks and don't want/can't afford to start taking it to a garage to take a look at it, I'm sure they'll find more problems or make it worse.
Can anyone offer advice on if it's ok to drive with the light on, after all it seems only to be stuck in normal height and I don't need the other two heights. Will this damage the car ??
Why can't they make a car, which we all agree is great to drive, with no problems and/or offer better customer service !!!!
Cheers
Phil

As long as the car doesn't sink you can drive it.
What you can do is have the fault diagnosed by a dealer. After that you can still decide what to do. Might just be the dryer assembly....CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS
When my suspension compressor went tits up I had the same thing where it would only give me normal height, so I took it to my local dealer and they said it would be ok to drive the 500 mile round trip I had planned that weekend. You might be risking it a bit by going to france with the problem though - just ask DiscoDunc about his experiences with French LR dealerships! For the cost of an exchange compressor and labour (I paid about £250 at Yeovil LR IIRC) it's worth getting sorted before you go IMHO.Previously:

One of the feeds to the valve block (behind one of the wheel arches I think) got chaffed on mine and wore through. Gave exactly these symptoms.
Wouldn't drive to France with it like that. French LR dealers were useless with a D2 I took over there a few years ago. In addition, if there's a a leak somewhere and over time you drop to the bump stops and can't raise the car again, it will be a very very uncomfy route back from France (and your kids will probably spew everywhere).

My D3 is in the shop today for the same normal height only suspension issue (along with various other problems). I'll let you know what they say is the problem.16 D4 Landmark

Dealer put it in a new air compressor - my 3rd air compressor in 5 years! So far so good, no suspension fault on the way home. Ford ESP extended warranty is paying for itself so glad I opted for extended coverage!16 D4 Landmark

Just spoke to the dealer, seems it's a kit to do with the compressor, but not the actual compressor only costs £10, but with diagnostics and labour, £250, hope it lasts the journey to France
Thanks to all concerned

New compressor fixed normal height fault message. No return of fault since new compressor went in. Dealer did forget to tighten some part of compressor housing or related area because now I've got a loose change / loose washer noise over every bump when I have the window down. No homeless persons shaking a cup about under my D3 so it must be related to compressor work.16 D4 Landmark
