Air compressor changed by dealer, now rattling ensues... |
|
Had my 3rd air compressor installed by dealer yesterday after #2 failed. Now whenever I drive over a crack it sounds like someone is shaking loose change below the driver door (USA left hand drive). Anybody know if there are washers on the screws holding the cover of the air compressor on? That's what it sounds like - like a washer on a screw not tight enough. Your dealer realy is crap.
You have had problems that should have been sorted fist time.
Back to dealer and I would tell them to fix it and to check for leaks and suggest a valve block may be faulty. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Well they put the 3rd air compressor in to solve a ever present suspension fault. So far so good no fault since replacement. However now I have the loose washer / change noise. For those of you that have worked on the compressor area can you tell me if there are simply screws that the dealer may have forgotten to tighten - which could be causing my noise? 16 D4 Landmark

Sounds like the bracket which holds the compressor might be broken.

Dealer is the only one who has taken my D3 off the ground. Doubt the cover is broken, but perhaps the bolts that hold it on are not tight (causing the noise - see above). Anyone know or could describe what type of screws or bolts hold the cover on? Before I go under the D3 would like to know what tools I need. I would take it back yo dealer but that's more time off work and more anger towards D3 I'm at my limit. 16 D4 Landmark

The cover comes off really easy. 2 screws left and right on yhe chassis and 1 screw in the middle of the cover. 10mm spanner. Then undo the 4 clips. After undoing the cover it should be very easy to see what is wrong. Maybe the bracket itself came loose from the chassis. The compressor itself hangs with 3 bolts and rubber dampeners in the bracket. CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS
