French Peage's - does the Disco 3 fit under the barriers ? |
|
We travel to France a lot and always wizz through the credit card only booths on the peages....which always have a low vehicle barrier. I've already established that at Access height the Disco 3 will just fit under the Eurotunnel barriers. Does anyone know whether the Disco 3 will fit under these peage barriers at normal or access height ?

Yes (although I'm not French...)
Never had a problem. But I don't have the bobbly GPS fin up top so don^t know if that makes a difference. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

Yes, the D3 will do normal lanes on the peage without having to lower your height or anything, the GPS bobble makes no difference.....
Even better is to get someone with a French bank account to sign you up for the telepeage zapper. So much fun to be had going into the reserved lanes and watching French french cars behind you hang back as they assume it's yet another stupid Brit who will have to reverse out, but instead going straight through

Oui, monsieur, pas de problème !
Limit is 200 cm so the D3 goes through even with LR rails on
Once roof rack + tent is on, you would still pay the "car" fee but could not go at the automatic peage, got the the teller.
If for some reason he/she wants to charge you extra for the tent, tell them you have always paid standard fee with it.
If he/she argues, drop to "acces height" at the toll
Never had any problem like this around France though.
And of course, Bon voyage ! l=Oo\________/oO=l l:Ool======loO:l
