Am taking my D3 on it's first laning trip in a couple of weeks.
Wanted some advice on what prep is needed if any - nb. Someone else is doing a guided, researched route etc etc - just thinking purely in terms of the vehicle.
So far have made a note to:
- check oil, fluids etc
- Take off OEM rigid mud flaps front and rear
- Check tyre pressures (Any different to std for driving on lanes?)
What else?

Beer, recovery rope/strap, snacks, jetboil, beer, snacks. Oh, and beer OK, maybe not!
If you have sidesteps, then take em off just in case, and take enough water to clean your windows lights and numberplates in case it's really muddy. make sure at least one of the group has some appropriate jacking equipment (and no, the provided jack doesn't count).
In fairness, much of the prep is common sense on the if you take it you won't need it theory; first aid kit, spare cell phone, tyre inflator and reliable pressure guage, good spare tyre, enough drinks, something to jack the vehicle on awkward/soft ground and a recovery rope/strap. If you're inexperienced then avoid kinetic recovery ropes; stick to normal type.
If you can research a nearby jetwash for the apres lane experience then you can remove any clay from your wheels that may otherwise give you the wobbles on the way home.
Finally, and most importantly; have fun Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

There is a welded loop in the centre - but I've no idea what the recovery load capacity might be, especially if the driver of the other vehicle goes into "snatch" mode.
So - go first! Then the others can then pull you back out using the decent recovery point on the rear. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.
