Hard Brake Pedal;Car Doesn't Stop

Today I've noticed that the brake pedal is sometimes very hard at the extent of its travel with no feel. More worryingly is that when the pedal goes hard when full depressed the car is reluctant to slow down effectively. The pedal travel feels no greater when hard, than normal and this doesnt happen on every stroke of the brake pedal. She had the servo recall done in December and the rear pads are in need of a change. any ideas anyone?

Deffo sounds like a servo issue. I'd get it looked at soonest ...

Remember that you can stop the car by lifting the 'handbrake' lever in an emergency - this then uses the ABS system to stop the car.

Sounds like a servo leak to me...

hard brake pedal

I had the exact same thing and nearly crashed. Mines also had the recall done in January. Despite this the dealer diagnosed oil in the servo in May, 3 weeks out of warranty. Initially I was asked to pay for a new servo and master cylinder, but when you point out its their design fault, and their recall that never solved the probblem, they dont have a leg to stand on and they know it. It took them 2 weeks but they crumbled, and replaced them for free.......
GO BACK TO DEALER.......and point them in that direction, and guide them along till its solved.........

Buda, the car went in to be looked at and the servo air line was full of oil. I've started another thread entitled "Brake Servo Recall Not Effective?" for discussion. Thanks for asking!
