BONNET OPENED without KEY ACCESS

Is it possible to open the bonnet to a Discovery 3 without using the key to unlock the car and using the bonnet lever??

Yes, I agree the Fire Department used a sledgehammer to break out the back window. As the engine had caught fire.. the insurance company and police claim that the only way to access the bonnet is with the key ...

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If there is a way I don't think it would be wise to share this sort of information on a public forum Thumbs Up

Brick through window? As a first post, not sure you'll get floods of people rushing to tell you...

I think there is a way, but a stone through the window is a lot quicker and probably less expensive. Twisted Evil

You could use a 4 inch hole saw and go in just over the "R" but watch your wrists on the way back out Thumbs Up

the police and the fire department have ruled out electrical, no arching present. it remains a question to be answered. fire appears to have started above the tappets, near the battery

Sorry to hear that Obsolete. Did the fire wrecked the car totally??

Noticed your hometown on your profile. The Otaga peninsula is absolutely stunning. One of those places which will never erase from my memory. I remember walking through the penguin reserve stumbling on a stretch of beach with a surfer sharing the surf with seals and dolphins.
I also remember an Albatros observation?

Was the car being driven or parked up?

High Pressure Fuel Pump??? You know...the one they've been changing to stop the bearings letting go and spilling fuel onto the exhaust pipes and causing everything to catch fire Shocked

car was parkeed at 6pm, fire department showed up at 115am. said it was a slow burning fire. . interior is still mint and 3/4 of the body os perfect. just the engine is melted and the wiring looms etc.

yes the peninsula is lovely. and surfing requires sharing the waves with seals and penguins
