Glass roof

I bought my wife an LR4, and I really like the truck,... seems very secure and safe for her and the kids.
So, all in all, I like it but there have been a few problems about which I thought I might get some feedback.

Firstly, I arrived home to find a large pool of fluid under the vehicle. Turns out it was the fluid from the motor mount.
It collapsed and bent some transmission lines. This with 5000 miles on the vehicle and no abuse. 2 weeks later, I get the
truck back. So, aside from venting, I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

Secondly, the glass roof portion that covers the back 2/3rds of the roof is cracked, any guesses how much a new one will cost?

Thirdly, at highway speeds, it always sounds like wind is getting in around the window seals. Is this common?

Thanks for the thoughts.

G

I broke the roof about 3 years ago and it cost about 750 euro to fix, IIRC.

Welcome to the site, G.

My Alpine was cracked upon delivery. It was covered by warranty... Obviously (I hadn't even taken delivery!) I just pulled my dealer sheets and it says the cost of the alpine was $1300 and labor was another $200. I know they had to let the adhesive cure for at least 2 hours. However, they had to order 3 different Alpines until they got one that it wasn't cracked inside the box.

Thanks for the info, Augustanamark.

Much easier than than figuring out the exchange rate 3 years ago for dollars versus the funny "currency" they use in Europe Wink

I'm honestly not sure how it broke, noticed it when I was washing the truck...
Just had roof rails installed at the dealer, but I would *hope* that they would tell me if they broke it.

BTW...does anyone else think that it sounds windy at highway speeds, like the windows aren't all the way up, even when they are?

Thanks again,

Gurn

The car's an aerodynamically efficient brick, but it's still a brick. The air does whistle a little past the windows until you reach normal autobahn-storming speed, at which point the whistle becomes a roar. Nothing the stereo can't overcome, though. Whistle

Absolutely that's what happened to your roof! Looking back to November, I had my roof rails installed before delivery and it was while they were installing the roof rails they "came across the crack. They were pretty sheepish about it back then. I just called my LR service manager and he laughed and admitted that's what happened. I have a good relationship with them so they told the truth after I asked them about it! He says it happens all the time while tightening the rails. They did mine with warranty and it was overnighted. Try to call your service people, that's totally what happened! Shame anyways on LR for not making the $300 rails standard anyways! The car looks lame without them! Good luck!
