Hi,
No one (including me) will post how to remove a locked tow hitch for obvious reasons
If you buy a replacement lock barrel from a dealer (about £35) it will be obvious whats required Never get mad - get even !!

Agree, NOBODY should broadcast HOW TO in the threads or PM's....unless you actually know the person you are comunicating with....So many are stolen and ending up on a auction site, if I see any explanations I will most certainly use the red triangle reporting system..
If you just wait for the replacement lock, and you will see...

fair point but in the same breath youve just told people that all they need to do is buy a lock from LR and hey presto.

Yes, but . . .
I very much doubt your average oportunist tow hitch tea leaf isn't going to be bothered to find their nearest LR dealer, and cough up for a new barrel, and then look for a victim vehicle - are they ?
And if they do, it serves the owner right for leaving the hitch in place, when they could have correctly stowed it in a nice tow hitch storage thing c/o TLO

Just literally bought a Disco 3 (from a bona fide Landrover dealer) with a removeable tow bar, yes I have the keys and the numbers match the lock. I asked the guy who delivered it how to take it off, he didnt know, or wouldnt try as it was so seized I couldnt get the key in, just spent around an hour spraying penetrating oil into it and managed to get the key in but still no luck.
Having searched online it seems that everyone has this as a problem, can anyone please give me a clue so I dont have it on my drive with steal me written on it? I am going to take this up with the dealer to see if I can get a new lock as the thread suggests, but help needed!! I am sure that a thief wont give a stuff about breaking it off and I would like to keep it for more than one day!
thanks
