Disco 3 Stolen and recovered in Mokopane |
|
Just a heads up, car white 2006 TDV6 HSE was stolen from the owners carport outside his house while he was home. window of the house was removed to be able to reach for the cars key. Gate remote was in the car and it was driven away. It was spotted by somebody who phoned the owner. The owner then phoned netstar who recovered the vehicle shortly afterwards. The car was abandoned and parked in the township for what is believed to be the "cool off" period to check for response from vehicle tracking companies. White MY2011 SDV6 HSE

The system works, hopefully the word would spread that D3's is fitted with trackers. At least that is all that was taken and recovered

Why can't some people just keep their hands off other people's stuff?

Hmmm let me see - he leaves his keys where they can be got at , he leaves the gate remote in the car . This is South Africa , he should make it as difficult as possible , not as easy . I'm relieved that the car was found abandoned and that nobody was injured / killed during the recovery. Most times theses guys are armed and will not hesitate to open fire if approached .

Hence the phrase : "heads up" , I really didn't know there was a demand for D3's on the black market, maybe I'm too far out of the city .The criminals might also be tired of the kidney breaking ride of the Toyota's I bet a lot of people leave the remotes in the car or on the car keys, or am I wrong? Glad it's back, but it has a very strong smell of an inside job.
I think the 2nd hand spares market is where it would end up,
seeing what we have to pay for various external parts. The
all & all brothers could rebuild a code 2 for a fat profit from
such a donor vehicle.
Thanks for the heads up D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

As vehicle security systems get better, armed/violent theft by first taking the keys is becoming more common (worldwide).
Difficult one IMHO and your response therefore seems a bit harsh.
Whilst you certainly don't want to roll over and make it easy for them, do you really want someone who "will not hesitate to open fire" returning back to your house to ask you/your partner where your gate remote is?

I won't argue with that - one of my colleagues is SA. Much of his family that remains there run cash businesses - some of them are still alive.
