brake locking on while on motorway

Has anyone had a brake being locked on while driving. This happened to me while on the motorway. The first thing I noticed was what I thought was an uneven road surface...This was the ABS locking the brake on and off. As this was at night, when I pulled over and looked at the wheels/tyres, one of the rear brake disces was glowing red and billowing smoke... Shocked

Possible sticking brake caliper?

Or are you sure it was the brake disc and not the EPB shoes? Could be an EPB fault as they have been know to come on whilst driving.
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

C'mon mods, do your stuff. Can't be a Censoredd typing reply again! Whistle Whistle

PS There u go, wonders of cut & paste

Had calipers seize partly on, one to point of disk glowing. 3 out of 4 replaced, one more and I get the set of steak knives. One of the reasons Honda Dogs have an attitude! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Derek, may I remind you that as I currently have a job, and have to do the 'mod' bit in between associated 'job' related actions, there may be some delay with appropriate 'mod' interventions.

As you don't have a job, get typing you lazy git 8) Wink

I had this a few weeks back, no matter how I cleaned and greased the pads it kept sticking. It does seem to have cured itself now after a day at Drumclog so am now back to a watching brief. Several people had suggested a caliper though.

Had this problem a while ago. Big Cry

Pad were sticking on their slide ways and all it took to fix was a wire brush and Copperslip or Copperease ( Think thats what its called these days!)
