Expensive mistake, and problems |
|
Just got a D4 5.0 - the only version they sell here, and only two colours to chose from - black or white. Very nice wagon; had a D3 4.0 before which I liked but very underpowered, then fell for the hype of the RRS 5.0; great car to drive and amazing how they have been able to set up a 2.5 ton SUV to be chuckable; but the noise, vibrations and claustrophobic cabin finally got me down so back it went and for a mere $17,000 more the D4 arrives - so instead of a $75,000 D4 in January, I have effectively got a $90,000 one in May; oh well, one has to pay for impulse buying - and it had to be done before the wife to be gets her hands on the purse strings! I would be very pleased but for:
- rear door and wing wheel arches not lined up
- trim falling off inside
- having to slam the rear door to get it to lock
- iPod connection failed after 3 days (worrying given these things are effectively computer reliant - one software glitch usually indicates something more)
- fuel filler flap jutting out 1/2 cm all round
Keep glancing at the FFRR - but it is $145,000 here, and even the sales guy said the price is daft; 2 D4s for a FFRR, and her-to-be would go nuts.....something about the 25 grand for a wedding....Big Macs all round would do for me.... Daniel

Not good on a new car. Get them to fix. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
