OEM DVD Entertainment distorting through speakers

Hi,
Does anyone have an idea on this or else I will have to book it into the local dealer....

I have the Land Rover DVD Entertainment system fitted to my '05 Disco3 and the picture is fine and the audio is great through the wireless headphones. Last weekend I tried it for the first time through the car radio speakers (it's supposed to be installed to work through the AUX button)...

When I switch to "Speaker sound" on the DVD player and select the AUX button on the car radio, the sound playing through the speakers is distorting badly. I would guess that the DVD audio output is to high for the AUX-IN.

Anyone else experienced this on the DVD entertainment system?

Also on the centre console there is a plastic plug in the AUX-IN socket for the ipod. If i remove this plug then the DVD audio stops playing through the speakers....

Mitch

Hi Mitch - and welcome Very Happy
The aux-in socket is the switching type, without a plug in it the inputs are grounded to prevent any induction and therefore background noise, the plastic insert is there to hold open the contacts.
There is a hardware fix for the distortion, quote TSB LA415-002 to your dealer to get the interface lead replaced Wink

Great thanks for the suggestion - I'll talk to the dealer and see what they can do! Just hope it doesn't involve removing to much trim!

They shouldn't have to - the interface cable is fitted between the DVD player and it's mounting pod Wink

Big thumbs up!

Big thumbs up to the replies on this forum (and my local dealer)!

I contacted my local dealer about the audio problem on my DVD player and quoted the TSB number from this forum...

They told me to drop the car around today and they had the parts already ordered in... I was also asked this afternoon if they could keep the car overnight to apply the Vehicle Enhancement Programme tomorrow morning...

So, thanks forum and good service (so far) from the local dealer.
