Am thinking about having this installed to my HSE. Does it work well, I have heard so many conflicting reports. What functionality to you get, my dealer cant even tell me...

Unless there is a "better" dealer fit PTI I haven't seen confirmed, it's a subset of the "factory" PTI/Bluetooth system:
You get Bluetooth connectivity to your phone, two buttons on the right of the streering wheel (basically call start/end), and voice command operation (with voice tag phone book). Audio is over the vehicle speakers.
The Factory PTI adds a cradle/dock system (direct connect, not Bluetooth) with external antenna and charging (on compatible phones, of course), which also allows access to your portable phone book and call log from the stereo head unit. The keypad on the stereo can also be used. Basically, it's a bit more "integrated."
In summary, you can do much better with third party solutions... only the factory PTI with a docked compatible phone offers something unique.
