Has anyone investigated using the suspension air compressor to supply compressed air for inflating tyres? Would there be sufficient capacity to work an air jack, or even air tools?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. The air suspension compressor could no way run tools. not enough airflow. As for blowing up tyres maybe. But why? A plug in cig lighter compressor would be just as good. The air suspension compressor is not designed to run all the time, its just to maintain pressure.
It has been discussed before. I think someone seriously looked into it as well.
IIRC, the general consensus was that the pressures are too great plus it runs a very real risk of overloading the unit. Add to that the physical problem of tapping into the air supply, ensuring there is enough distribution between suspension and secondary usage, overcoming fault codes etc...
Hence no one (so far) has gone to the effort of actually doing it.The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Im sure caverD3 has tapped into the D3 compressor
Or fit another tank and use a small compressor to fill it

Has anyone looked into using an external compressor to blow the suspension if the copressor fail
Would you be able to valve in between compressor and the airtank

Chris has asked a good question, as we all know that the compressor has a overheat problems and consequently, especially if we drive in hot weather and in the upward setting.
In such mater the caution lights light up and the “D3 sits downâ€. Imagine if this happens during rock climbing over and over again.
Therefore what we need is an external compressor or an s/w bypass not to see any minor fault as a major one and ruin the party in the middle of nowhere.

Air is at 240 psi. I have added a regulator as the shortening rod actuators only take 150psi.
The air in the tank is enough for air up from off road pressures but runs out for sand pressures. Wiggs addition will give twice the air storage. a connector between the two tanks would give twice as much air from the OEM compressor or have it as a separate unit with it's own compressor.
Normal compressors do not go to high enough pressures to supply it to the EAS you would need to change the pressure switch in a decent compressor.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Hi Caver
Would it be possible to show some pictures of the additional air tank and the connection ?!

I have't done it but look at wiggs post and ask him about the compreeor he used.
I have air off the standard tank but it does not hold enough volume of air for a lot of tyres.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Aussies have a pre-fab system they can purchase. Would assume they ship internationally as well.
Have dealt with these guys before to purchase their tow hitch and had a great experience.
Have been thinking about this for my RRS. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has installed similar.
Cheers

Thanks Jimmy
I have looked in the link you have sent me.
These guys are working with the original compressor while Wiggs has designed a separate and independent one. I find his solution better as I don't have much confident in touching the original system (over heat, etc.) I see Wiggs tank more interesting and reliable to us all.
As you soticed it is better to wait and see if anyone have some expirience.
