I know this thread has been inactive for ages - but was a definitive solution to this problem?
I had flashing hand brake symbol twice yesterday. I've only had the car (D4/10my) for a week so not sure if it's up to date with the assurance program...

My car had a modified EPB part fitted and updated software since then the fault has never returned, my car is a 2010 disco 4 gs.
