Hello
Hello everybody, new D3 owner as of yesterday. It's my 8th Land Rover.
Sadly my aging D2 broke down opposite an independent LR specialist, so I saw that as a sign! Whilst waiting for a lift, I had plenty of time to view the stock and after test driving a D3, a D4 and a FFRR, I decided on a 54 plate Tonga Green HSE. (The D4 was lovely, but out of my price bracket).
Had a reasonably long drive in the new car yesterday and can't believe the jump in build quality and general road manners between this and the D2.
Looking forward to using the Forum - although hopefully not spending too much time in the 'fault finding' section

Newbie hoping to get into a Disco 3
Hello All,
This looks like a great forum and I'm hoping to get some good advice and points of view for Disco 3.
We looked at a 05 TDV6 today with 105k on it, paintwork looked good and had decent tyres and brakes all round. I did have a couple of concerns though - it seems quite under powered until you hit the 3k Rev range then the turbo kicks in. Is this normal or should there be a low range turbo at the bottom of the Rev range?
Also there was no air suspension; it had been removed and all new "locked" suspension leaving the height controls defunct, is this a good thing or not?
Any other buying tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
NH

Morning all
I'm hoping you can all help scratch an itch I've had for some time
When I was 25 I was shortlisted for the 2009 G4 event in Mongolia - I was a lot fitter then than I am now!
Now at 34 with the family and charity built I'm taking the decision to see it through and start planning the trip to Mongolia
I've owned
Disco 2 - with defender transfer box
1989 turbo 90
300 tdi 90
V8 90
Td5 90 - was stolen and is the one I fantasise over!!
My plan is to buy a disco 3, I figured I'd make sure I was comfy for the trip, and prep it in time whilst getting reaqquainted with Greenlaning and skills required
Currently there is me going, but it's open to others if your interested, I'm assuming it'll take about three years to be ready - based on time to get out driving and time I'll need to prep and fabricate the parts needed - though outside of guards, jack, tent etc I can't see it needing much fabrication of parts.
All the best
Elliott

Having just joined the site I thought I would say hello. No D3 at the moment but on the lookout for one. Had a 300Tdi Disco commercial a few years ago and still have my Series 3 that I use to tool around Salisbury plain with the kids but both that and the Zafira are going and a D3 will be coming instead, hopefully sometime soon.
Uses will be lugging the family around, towing and mooching about the plain with the kids.
My new D3 is being collected tomorrow. 05 HSE in Black. Now, where are those deep pockets

Hi to all.
Have just become the proud owner of a 12 plate D4. She who must be obeyed says that if the stupid smug grin hasn't gone soon she will send it back. Used to run a XC90 (sorry forgot the site policy on bad language for a moment there) and a S3 109. Got rid of both and bought the D4. Used to use the old lady a lot, especially during the winter take my spaniels to work on a local estate. I will be doing the same with the new toy so there will be days when it will look like it has been through a war zone. Currently checking it out and wondering about the towing electrics. It has the heavy duty towpack fitted with both 12N & 12S sockets and I would like to fit a 13pin. Forgot to mention I will also be pulling a Lunar clubman with it. From what I can gather Landrover now build the towing electrics into the loom and it is just a matter of plug and play. Will I be able to unplug the 2 12's and plug in a 13 ? has anybody out there done this.

You know how to make a small fortune with a Land Rover? Start off with a large fortune.
But I wouldn't swap my D4 for anything. The kids will go before she does.2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze

Also, take a look at Warranty Direct and the associated threads on here about them. Not everyone has a good experience, but I've found them to be very good and I've had more paid out in repair bills than the warranty has cost me.
Just be aware of the betterment etc. clauses - these can be removed but you need to ask.2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
