Hi everyone. Just purchased my first venture into the world of Land Rover. Quite excited about it but not picking her up until saturday. Needed a seven seater due to grandchildren and didn't fancy another "normal" seven seater.
Had a Pajero a few years ago and loved the whole concept of heightened driving position and practicality so seemed even easier to go upmarket this time.
Looking forward to discussing lots of stuff with you all over the time to come plus I seem to be a mind full of useless information and really bad jokes according to my wife

Hi, I'm looking to buy a later 8 speed D4 HSE. As for me, I work for the company that makes your hobbies and turns you all into mechanics.

Well after lurking and joining a week or two ago, we sold the TD5 Landy for silly money, and then went out and bought a lovely SDV6 GS Disco 4 on a 61 plate in black and very happy we are too!! Affectionately named Beu, the Disco is now due a few cheeky upgrades. Ill be there in a minute!!!

2006 Disco 3 V8 4.4 - "Fuel Sender/Sensor 2 Faulty" |
|
Hi DISCO3 Management & Staff & Forum Users,
I became aware of the site after browsing for help for a faulty Fuel sensor - 2006 Disco 3 V8 - 4.4.
(I'm fortunate and blessed to also own a 1992 Landy Tdi 200 Hardtop & 1996 Disco 1 Tdi 300 that I bought new, while the Disco V8 was 2-years old from a first owner)
The Fuel Level registers empty on the dash (with the low/empty light illuminated), while there is still at least a half-tank supply.
Using diagnostics, the Fuel Meter tests OK!
Further diagnostics indicate "Fuel Sender/Sensor 2 is Faulty".
Wading through the RAVE Manual at a 3rd Party Service Centre for further details, a diagram of the Fuel Tank is displayed, indicating two sensors - a Front Sensor & a Rear Sensor.
Apparently - according to another Disco 3 V8 owner (but HSE Model), who had a similar problem - only the Rear Sensor is replaceable.
If the Front Sensor is faulty, the Fuel Tank must be replaced.
The Question the aforementioned raises - given the Diagnostic fault reference of "Fuel Sender/Sensor 2 is Faulty" and the RAVE Manual referring only to a Front & Rear Sensor - which is which?
Sensor 1 is very likely the Front Sensor, leaving Sensor 2 being the Rear Sensor.
Given that the Fuel Tank must be removed to replace a faulty Rear Sensor, one must be absolutely sure which is which, as a go-ahead on a trial basis, can be somewhat costly!
Can someone please assist, as we are battling to clarity out here on the Southern tip of Africa!
Go well!
Arthur

I just purchased my first D3 yesterday. It is a V8, 7 seater, SE, with under 100k miles. I picked it up with full service history and kinda stole it...$6500U.S.D. The current pricing where I am at is around $9-10.5k... I also currently own a D1, and am over D2. So to say I am happy with this car is a understatement.

Hey all,
been a longtime lurker, and finally took the plunge: it's a V8 which is kind of silly here in Austria where I live, but it gives me a smile every time I drive it.
Thanks to this forum for giving me the tools necessary to do this,
Stefan

Hi Folks!
Finally got to register on here after stumbling across the site searching a few issues previously. It is now my 'go to' place and the knowledge base on here seems amazing! 8)
The vehicle is a 2006 2.7 diesel. Previous owner has done a lot of upgrades so its got Disco 4 lights, grill, Xenons, and 21" wheels......
It's obviously spent it's previous life as a 'Chelsea Tractor' but it's now got to earn it's keep pulling the horsebox and sheep trailer.
The wheels wouldn't have been my first choice but it's only going around grass fields and it hasn't come unstuck yet!
It's got a few issues (as they all seem to have) that i will be asking advice on as we plan to keep it for as long as possible. It's a lovely place to be sat.
The site is brilliant - keep up the good work!

Hi, had a disco 2 for ages chassis rotted away, bought new chassis got it galvanised and eventually after a long time got it all replaced new clutch, new oils stainless inner mudguards got all niggles sorted out and rolled it within a fortnight.
so disco 3 in september and slowly working through faults/improvements found this site/members/info invaluable.
struggle with computers though

Hi
Been a Landrover fan for years, having had all the discoveries (barring the series 2).
Parted with my Nara Bronze Disco 4 last year.
Maybe returning to the fold in future.
Have been aware of this site, thought it would be a good idea to join.
Thanks, looking forward to reading your posts.

Returning back to the fold 😜 |
|
So after a few years away, I can't wait to get my hands on a D4 when I get back from hols. Left the D3 group when I started 70 mile commute for work, went through a few different cars including new A6, Honda S2000 and new Subaru WRX STi, all cars I fancied owning. Now fancy going back to one of my favourite cars and having a comfortable drive and something I can have a bit of fun in at the weekends if I want.
Looking for a MY2013 HSE with reasonable mileage and have seen a few at LR stealers..... sorry dealers, so will be having a trip round a few to get the right one at the right price.
Will need to get in touch with Ray once purchased for the needed sump guard and take the modifications slowly 😉
Looking forward to being active in the group.
Darren.
