Hi I had 4 new tyres fitted to my disco 3 yesterday but didn't notice until I got home that they had put on 235.60.18 on instead for 255.60.18 that had on originally does this matter.

Hi all,
I do not own a Discovery yet but i am looking for a car to accommodate my ever growing family (number 4 is on the way)
Looking to buy a 7 seater on a budget which is comfortable and a good towing car. Hopefully, this forum will be able to help.
regards

Hi Martin
I have Disco 3 V8 HSE 4.4 Petrol as I don't like diesel! I have a Disco 2 V8 out in Zambia, so if I can get this one right, I'll ship it in a couple of years to retire with and get another in UK. I need a big motor as the wife and 3 kids carry a lot of luggage and friends .... I run multi-million pound projects [as an independent], in many different environments, which really is interesting most of the time.
I'm looking forward to making the most of the forum and hope to contribute, where possible.

The Disco is a great family car but it can only be done on a budget if you get lucky with the one you get

Hi Bones 2014
Yes it is always the way with most cars!
I have found that most discos that are within my sort of price range have 100k + on the clock. Should this be a concern or do you know what I should look out for when considering these cars?
Thanks
Dungarth

The mileage isn't necessarily a problem, but I'd look for full service history either main dealer or specialist indie and make sure the belts were changed at around 105k. Mines on 146k and runs beautifully. Ive done around 18k a year for the past 3 years and the only issue I've had is the rear compressor needed changing last year. I've had a few warning lights and frightening warning messages but these have all been simple to correct (i.e. HDC fault when a brake light bulb needed replacing)

Hi, brand new to the forum as I only bought my 2008 SE last week. Gutted to find no Bluetooth module fitted but can hopefully remedy that with a parrot Mki9200, just wondering on the SOT loom as there are varying ones available at varying prices. I have a Harman Kardon Logic 7 fitted so I assume it will be the most expensive lead ensuring it connects the amp, head unit and parrot. I'm sure I'm not the first to encounter this so apologies if it's already been spoken about

Hi, excited that I will have the D4 tomorrow. Have reserved one last week with Mike Brewer Luton, Black MY65, HSE. I am upgrading from a Freelander TD4 to a D4. Only concerning is the reliability of this D4. The old Freelander never gave me problems ---- spoiled by the TD4, hopefully so does this D4. Finges cross !!!

Good afternoon, new member here based in Cambridgeshire saying "Hello".
I very recently (less than two weeks ago, in fact) took the leap in to Disco 3 ownership. I have wanted one for a very long time and I don't know why I waited so long. A fantastic car and *so far* a very pleasant ownership experience and not a bad birthday present to me, from me...
I am very up for any events and meet ups, especially ones in the area as I also run an automotive blog so it would be great to get some stories in there.
Enough about me, the car is a 2007 black TDV6 HSE Auto. I haven't really had a chance to do much yet or take it anywhere exciting but I do plan on getting a roof rack and ladder sorted soon along with a few other bits here and there...
I'll start a proper thread some updates and images when I get a proper chance soon!
Thanks, James

Hello all, long time lurker here but I have finally joined
Having a real need to scratch a D3 / D4 itch I have had a succession of Land Rovers starting with 3 Range Rover Classics - one after the other and I'm currently on my 4th 300 TDI Auto Disco 1
Keep spending my time browsing D3 / D4 for sale ads and I'm afraid its only going to be a matter of time
Great forum with some real helpful and knowledgeable people. Hopefully I'll be an owner soon!

Recent joiner to the LR club.... |

Hi all
Just to say hi to everyone - I've not spent much time on the site, as I've only just entered Land Rover / Discovery ownership, having had the family in either a Renault Grand Espace, or a Ford Galaxy for the past 10 years.
However, I've dreamt of Discovery ownership for many, many years, and having picked up my 2015 65 Disco 4 HSE Lux a few weeks ago, and currently testing it on a family holiday in Wales, I must admit that from my first impressions, it's a great car... I'm loving the high up driving position, the classy-but-not-flashy image and the soak-it-up suspension...
It's an interesting beast - I now drive more slowly - the car doesn't like to be rushed, but demands to be driven in a stately fashion on country roads - no bad thing according to SWMBO!
I have the benefit of the LR warranty, but will be interesting to see how reliability and costs compare - the Renault was awful, the Ford was great, but just didn't cut the mustard for a petrol head!
Anyway, I look forward to joining what looks to be a great forum!
cheers
andy

Just waving my tiny little hand and saying hi. Every time I have a question about my Disco 3 I get sent to this site. Seems daft not to be a member given the amount if times I have been here.
I have a 56 plate D3 2.7TDV6 with 86,000 on the clock. So as you can imagine I'm now at the stage of replacing some of the expensive parts. Recently did the lower control arm bushings. Replaced with super pro bushings. All done with hand tools I might add. A lot of swearing and persistent hammer bashing.
I have a long list of things to do next, so welcome advice if you have it.
Timing belt with upgraded to newer pump. I heard it supports the tensioner and can break leading to timing belt catastrophe.
Diff fluid renewal.
Automatic gearbox flush and after market sump/filter upgrade.
Hidden winch install. (When I have the money)
Snorkel.
And the list goes on. It's a Disco after all. Great car but it is big and heavy so it's a given that parts wear faster than a normal car. A lot of people do not consider this before buying one.
Anyway, Hi.
