Differences between Disco 3 05/06 model and 07/08 models |
|
Hello all, in my searchings for a Disco 3, I have been advised by one LR dealer that the Disco 3 from 07 onwards is more mechanically sound and reliable than Disco 3's from 05/06 - would you say that was true? Thanks in advance for any feedback, Rgds, JohnnyM

Johhny,
07 has the EUiV engine, a clock on the main dash, three flash quick indicators and a couple of other minor updates.
06 is EUIII engine.
Later 06 cars are generally deemed more reliable than 54/05 cars but that is all about making sure the car has all the rigth software updates applied.
The key thing is the software updates, so if he's done all those, then should be fine.
07 may be more reliabel only based on age rather than any major technological advance.

Hi Bodsy, thanks for the information - very helpful. I had chatted with the LR dealer to ty and get a feel for which years if any in the Disco 3 range, suffered less from the recurring mechanical niggles that I read about on the forum, such as the parking brake issue and suspension problems. I hadn't figured that sofwtare updates play such an important part - useful to know. Thanks, Johnny

I think rear aircon and the cooler was dropped as standard on the 07HSE's onwards
Mines a July 06 and I would say its been very reliable, but it had all the s/w upgrades as soon as they were available. Duncan

07 seats are the same as 06 they changed to the ruffled leather on 08 or 08.5. Actual seat shapes stayed the same though, just the finish changed.
My 07 was the last ones to have the rear aircon and fridge cooler as std. Bodsys Brake Bible

I have a 55 plate HSE, how would i ensure that it has the most recent software updates and would a dealer automatically carry out the updates when it has a service?

freewheel, they should carry out any re-call actions, but will only update other software if you had specific problems. Some of the updates take hours to do, so as long as youi've had the recall actions & e3nhancement packages, youi should be fine
Do you get the option of the timed parking heater? If so, then you haven't had the major updates Bodsys Brake Bible

There was a change in how the CANBUS communicates in the MY07. Generally more reliable but there was a HP fuel pump recall on the early models. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
