Scaremongering about suctioncups, nice sales ploy
So what about satnavs?
Most people with half an ounce of common sense will secure such devices to their screen out of the wiper sweep area
My suction cup camera is secured to the black area of the windscreen to the (looking from inside out)upper left of the rear view mirror and the camera sits nicely next to the mirror.
Looks neat, does the job extremely well, yeah it ain't got GPS like a blackvue but with 64gig card it records about two weeks worth of video before it overwrites itself. (£25 off eblag + £20card from Maplins)
So going back to the website, are they saying that all police cars fitted with double rear view mirrors, cameras, satnavs etc are breaking the law too???
My neighbour at my job number 1 is a traffic officer. She parks next to my D3 in her fully equipped fast response motah,
And has acually commented on what a good idea these cameras are.....
Oh and if you're going to pay those prices on that site for a camera, then you might as well get a blackvue from

@ Beanie
I just did a search on Blag.E and loads come up, mine has the flip down LCD screen which is really uselful for watching yourself drive
But moreso for positioning the camera accurately
Gone down in price too so I'm going to get another for my rear screen,
My only tip is too turn off the audio in the settings as it dosnt always match the video playback.
But who wants to hear themselves singing (badly)anyway
Did you get a MiWitness set-up - if so details & user comments would be appreciated.

windscreen mounts
Hi Moo
I noticed your post on the windscreen mounts the web site that says they are not legal are technically jumping the gun a bit.
Last year there was new EU legislation launched in europe that no devices were to be stuck to the windscreens of vehicles and they would fail a TUV test should a vehicle be submitted to a testing station, but the legislation hasnt filtered to the UK yet and it is mostly turned a blind eye to and not enforced.
however it is in europe and sat navs have to have rigid dash mount brackets all because some one took a smack on the napper with one and tried to claim compensation, bit I dont know the outcome of this, whether they were paid out or not.
The device however should be stuck to the glass with a high adhesive pad if you are using a windscreen mount as I personally wouldnt trust a suction mount not to come of and either damage the item being held or pop off at the most inconvient time, we dont use them if we can help it but sometimes there is no other choice depending on what our customer wants
cheers

I'm now looking at this as SWMBO has had a head on with another car on a private road... her car has a cracked number plate however the other car that was coming downhill and fast out of a blind 90 bend has been written off! the insurance company are looking to recover all costs from SWMBO. Despite the fact that SWMBO had stopped as she saw the Scooby Coming.. they are trying to blame her!
So What can I put in the car.. that will NOT cost a fortune... the other driver has a habit of driving very fast (no speed limit as its a private road) and we have both had close calls before...

I had MOT's failed on two cars recently as the MOT tester was a stickler for the rules and failed both cars on obstructions to view out of the front screen, one for satnav suction mount, and one for an air freshener hanging off the mirror.....
Yes, he was being a pedantic p k but he was following the guidelines......so the legislation has filtered to the UK already....G4OC Secretary

looking at this type of thing now.. just cant stretch to a Blackview at the moment... these seem cheap/good value depending on your POV!
I have this one but not yet installed / tried it - I bottled and went for a BlackVue DRW500 with WiFi instead. Think this ebay special is now destined for SWMBO's car

G_Cam, I have exactly that camera fitted to my car, have had it since January.
Quality is ok and playback is fine too, but it does have a habit of over recording itself with the same clip so be warned.
For a budget camera, they are alright, but they're no Blackvue. Mods:
