I am in the process of replacing my clutch and have discovered an oily viscous discharge from the side of the dual mass flywheel, there is none behind the flywheel only between the flywheel plates. The clutch has failed after 71000 miles and I was get no drive at all . Does this mean the flywheel needs replacing?

I'm afraid it sounds as though your DMF has given up.
I went through exactly the same thing with my Shogun at the end of last year.
The only advise I can give is not to be tempted by the much cheaper solid flywheels instead of a new DMF.
The car will not be the same with a solid flywheel and it could damage the gearbox.
