Gear Knob
8)
Hi guys yes its me again the one that had problems with the cruise control earlier this week. Just wondering if anyone knows how to replace the gear knob for the disco. I have a jazzy chrome one I would like to fit instead of the original Land Rover one.
And while we re at it, I would like to fit fog lights on the front bumper like the one shown on this web site.
Thanks again men, stand by your beds!!!!!!!!!! Don't be blinkered vision, see the world in colour.
To remove the old one on a manual box, unclip the gaiter from the centre console, then just pull upwards to remove the knob. The know is held to the gaiter by a thick rubber band.Previously:

Gear Knob
OK guys thanks for your interest in this subject. Did have a go this weekend and have taken pitures of this and placed it on a word document for all to have a look at but not sure how to attach the word document onto this post anyone got any Ideas????? What ever you do don't pull the gear knob of the lever as there are two phillips screws holding this together.
This is for a manual diesel gearbox.
Thanks

Gear Knob
Ok guys check out the gallery there is a pdf file logo image on there just let me know of your oppinions.[/url]Don't be blinkered vision, see the world in colour.
You need to pull it upwards harder - no need to remove the screws and rubber bit. It's just a friction fit between the knob and shaft!Previously:

Gear Knob
Uhmmm
Sounds abit fishy to me.
Even if it does come off that way it shouldnt be so tightly fitted may end up damaging the whole gear lever its on that tight. Must be another solution to this.
By the way even if it did come off in this fasion does anyone know where I can get a snazzy one to replace the existing land rover one.
Does anyone know how much it will cost to have a sat nav installed in the centre spot of the dash board and I don' mean the ones you pick up from Halfords but the genuine land rover one.
Took the car in for a free 30 point check at my nearest land rover dealer this weekend and asked how much it would cost for service and got and answer of over £360 and would charge extra if the break pads needs replacing.
Also would like to have fog lights fitted to my landrover like the one on the home page of this forum if anyone knows where I can have one fitted at a reasonable price.
