Why is my grey smoke now black ? |
|
Recently noticed under heavy acceleration that the light grey smoke I used to get is now black !
It's got a JE engine tune and my EGR's are blanked off.
[not so much smoke with the EGR's blanked btw].
But cann't figure out why all of a sudden it's gone black.
This has only happened over the last week since I got my windows tinted.

Tailgate window doesn't wind down on mine Ian.
And if I wind down my drivers window and look behind when I'm accelerating hard, I'll crash!
btw I don't have window winders either.

Spooky coincidence this one Ron....
Mine is remapped and has the EGRs blanked....I was also travelling behind another D3 on Saturday with the same mods.
I've always noticed mine chucking out grey smoke, but when I saw him on Saturday under heavy acceleration his chucked out some low level black smoke....
When I told him he said "black? no....it's always grey"....we checked over the radio and when he put his foot down and said "see - it's grey", I could actually see it as black...

I've just started getting this as well, I took it to my friendly garage and they took a look, they said it was normal and not to worry even though it had only just started happening.
It was REALLY bad after I filled up with crap fuel in France recently and then climbed over the Pyrenees, but again the garage said it was normal and I noticed all the diesels in the mountains did it... so I am not worried until something goes bang!
