Hi
I am due to pick up my HSE on sat am. I am getting pretty excited, however I have noticed some none too flattering reports about the quality of the Harmon Kardon sound system installed.
I would love to know anybody's veiws on this.

It sounds good to me! You would not believe the difference when you turn the 'Logic' on and off.
I Just wish the dang thing would read MP3 tags.
Ive resorted to keeping a written list of the 6 disks I have loaded!

Marketing will be branding the MP3 playback feature "MP3 Shuffle", taking a cue from Apple Computer: a missing capability (song info display) is actually a feature and not a drawback.
If this goes well, 2007 models may delete the entire head unit display entirely.

But Grommet - in "landrover speak" it is not a missing capability - rather we all just imagined it ever could have existed in the first place

Sounds excellent. i had the rattle in the speakers that you hear mentioned but found this was just how the dealer had left the tone settings. Adjusted the tone settings and have what I consider great sound with no annoying speaker rattles.

I'm finally enjoying my Disco 3, with the Premium HK sound. But it really isn't all that great. I put the subw. to the max, treble almost to the max, bass about halfway... It's a shame there's no parametric EQ. "Logic" adds some extra DSP that creates spatial (not special) effects, but also adds distortion.
My advice: if you're serious about sound quality, look for something else. I was hoping I wouldn't have to. I wonder if it's the speakers, because I still have to try the headphones.

Mine rattles like there's no tomorrow, no matter what tone setting I used. I have traced it to the grilles on the midrange units. I'll have to have the dealer sort that... '05 LR3 HSE
