Uncommanded voice activation
Just got a 2005 model HSE, often just after engine start I get the beep and waiting for voice input without pressing the button.
Anybody else seen this?
At first I thought it was maybe a sticky switch, but I wouldn't expect that to cause it to happen only once after start up.
I've already got 4 bulbs & a brake light switch on order after getting abs, esc, transmission & suspension failure last week, is it Likely to be related to that?
Cheers
Alan

Yep, seen it, in my case a faulty voice command unit (the one in the passenger footwell in RHD cars).
I'm not sure if they are still produced, I know the phone unit is not.

Could be the clock spring (rotary coupler) as that can also cause the other issues you have.
Would be worthwhile taking off the airbag and checking for any trapped or broken wires behind it. Bodsys Brake Bible

I have this problem too, is it possible just to disconect the module or is it needed for something else. The Voice control is useless even when it is working!

My voice control isn't useless far from it, it works near perfect every time, one of if not the best feature on the car, use it all the time, one of my favourite voice commands is "navigation go home" or "CD play disk five, track ten" passengers are amazed! It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hi, I'm going to part ex my car in the next few days and I could really do with a way of shutting this up every time I turn the key, any ideas what I can do? Is there a fuse I can pull or a module I can disconnect or worst case a wire I can snip?

True true, it's not being exactly honest but personally I find the voice command useless, slow and a distraction. It's much easier just to press the button blind! If it can be disabled without any other issues I'd still like to do it.

Switch pack, loom and clock spring are likely culprits. Out of the 3 the steering wheel loom is my pick.
