battery problems & software update
took car into Marshalls of Cambridge yesterday re magic eye on batt. always showing black (discussed on earlier thread) & at same time requested the WDS13 patch be installed. Receptionist pleaded ignorance of the software upgrade, so I amazed him with a print out of some of the comments on this site, & complained of excessive turbo lag. Receptionist went away & returned to tell me they haven't received the upgrade from L/Rover yet so there was nothing they could do.
After checking the battery they advised it was ok & suggested I ignore magic eye being black. They wouldn't change it as their batt. tester showed it to be ok. After some discussion it was suggested I contact L/Rover customer services. I did this at the dealers and L/Rover authorised the battery be changed. However, as to be expected, the dealer didn't have a spare batt. even though I specifically asked when I booked the car in last week they have one on standby. Am now waiting a phone call to return to dealers (120 mile round trip ) for a new battery to be fitted. The dealer has agreed to reimburse the cost of the fuel. magic eye on battery
new batt. fitted today, but the latest batteries don't have a magic eye, so the problem is solved forever. Dealer still denies knowledge of the WDS13 patch.never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly

I also visited Marshalls recently - after intially denying the existence of said patch they tell me they fitted it when it went it for work that should have been done before I bought it. Consumption and turbo lag definitely better. Stick to your guns.
I have had loads of problems over the years with leisure 12v batteries on my boat and magic eyes. I think these magic eyes are CR*P. Invest £2.99 and get Maplins cheapest digital multimeter and keep any eye on the voltage if you are worried.2008.5 D3 HSE, Stornoway, Ebony

Many thanks eddtheduck for the info re Marshalls. I am shortly going abroad with the vehicle for 3 months so won't have time to return to dealer until Sept. so I'll try again then.
