Great site full of good info and I hope to contribute one day after I get to know the car.
Ordered my D4 HSE with Surround Camera System and Tow Bar for delivery at the end of March.
Just checked the order form and spotted Co2 offset at £115 ,I did not ask for it and it was not mentioned when I ordered the car . Is it compulsory or can I decline to ease my continence and not pay it.
Like others have said It takes a bit of getting used to Paying £50k for a car. Faultmate MSV-2

You used to be able to opt out. Are you sure you can't still.
It is automatically added to the order, but not mandatory surely ?
Mind you, spending £50K on a vehicle, will it really affect ones bank balance that much

You are also able to pay more if you wish, the link to gift more is on the LR site, there is also a thread about it, here's the link;

Without going down the Eco Warrior route.
But why should we pay for a CO2 offset, whilst we are already paying through the teeth for road tax, due to these being in the high emission bracket. Personally i wouldn't find it so bad if paying the offset, offset your road tax. ATB

Correct, it's not mandatory but you must notify the dealer that you don't want it, it's included by default. Have spoken to two separate dealers and both said they've not had anyone who wasn't willing to pay the £115 and get the little windscreen sticker.

I told Yeovil I wasn't willing to pay it but they insisted I had to
Mind you, the price I got the car for I can't quibble I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I know this will sound very bad, careless and thoughless, but as much as I like Yeovil and the environment (my love of the outdoor is what ultimately drives my passion for 4x4s)....
...but there is no way I would pay this offset crap.....the only sticker that people should be interested in is the tax disc that proves you're a tax-paying (and hopefully therefore) legal driver......
And if you were to tell me that this offset scheme is managed by a private company, then my head would probably explode......
I would prefer it if LR secretly included it in the price and didn't ever mention it or give me anything to stick on my vehicle whose sole purpose is to make me feel smug or excuse myself to everyone else for driving what suits me best 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

the CO2 calculator shows D3 at 5.22 tonnes = cost 45.97 at 12000 miles per year
so keep it more than 3yrs and your pounds in Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!
