3 Warning lights in three months - only one true? |
|
Hello,
I'm new to the forum having taken delivery of my Disco 4 at the beginning of October. I've now done 4300 miles and I think its brilliant. However there have been odd faults that knock confidence.
The first is that I cannot get the bluetooth to work - but only occasionally! When I take it to the dealer it works. The fault has only happened on cold days!! It is not my phone I've tried it with different phones and the bluetooth is not there when searched. Turning the car on and off doesn't help, but returning to the car after its been standing for a couple of hours generally triggers it to work ??
Then I have had three warning lights:
1) 'Gearbox fault' - turning the car on and off generally extinguishes this light. I had the gearbox checked by the dealer but no fault found.
2) Water in fuel warning. I got this for the first time today - intermitent. A very cold day and I was low on fuel. I filled up and the light went out.
3) brake fluid low. red triangle! This came on and off as I went around corners. I checked the fluid and it was low! Just below the minimum. It took almost a whole bottle to top up. After 400 miles has anybody else noticed brake fluid needed a top up? There is no evidence of a leak.

Welcome to the site, Graham.
(1) Seems to be a common fault on early D4 and RRS MY10. Take a look also at RRSPORT.CO.UK. Software fix on the way, I think, although it applies to certain VINs.
(2) Ignore unless it happens again. Could be fuel poorly treated for winter. My personal view.
(3) I'd ask the dealer, for sure.
Welcome again.

Gearbox fault requires a new selector assembly, bulletin covers this.

That is one cure for one specific symptom. Whilst what is described is very likely sorted by replacing the selector assembly, the fault lie elsewhere, so such black and white advice can be misleading.
