cold start problem
Got my new D4 saturday and its just great....apart from 1 little nag :
when its really really cold outside i get in, press the brake and the start button...
and NOTHING HAPPENS !!
after a while i get a yellow thingy telling me its a gearbox failure ???
then 10 minutes later it turns on with no yellow at all....did this 2 times now
any ideas ?

there is another thread you should read called "reduced performance message on D4XS". The final entry by Winger seems to cover your issue but suggests that later builds ought to have had the problem solved...
Good luck. I have my first LR on order and am getting concerned by the number of people having serious electrical problems.

With the D3 I think there was some form of pre-heater as is normal with a diesel - ie you turned the ignition on waited a few seconds for the dash-lights to go off & ONLY then cranked the engine over... is there some equivalent available with the keyless/start button D4 perhaps that you have to use?

Try pressing the start button without the brake pedal, the ignition will come on and the engine pre-heat cycle will heat the engine until the little yellow coil symbol goes out. Then press the brake pedal and the start button.
The gearbox fault is a red herring caused by low battery voltage, a software fix is supposed to be on it's way.2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE
