matt, looking at your details clearly a vehicle used in city/urban conditions which will lead to higher tyre/brake wear due to stopping the best part of 2.8tons worth of d4 Shocked

squeak in reverse is down to a) the pads will move slightly when you first move backwards in their carrier b) the rear brake drums/shoes need cleaning/adjusting due to a build up of brake dust.

your MPG seems a wee bit low which in turn could lead someone to believe you have a brake caliper that might need minor adjustment or your brake shoes are binding ( common issue). Thumbs Up

In regards to the mpg... How often do you reset it.. It could be over a long period and may show a lower result. is this the average or the instantaneous mpg?
If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

I would be asking questions as it is very unusual to wear out the back before the front, I would also want to see the pads.

this is what i thought and got no real answer from tech guy..

could this be anything to do with caliper?

and i presume it would effect mpg if dragging?

if you are driving around town, ie 0-40mph and lots of start/stop then 19mpg seems about right to me. Thats what I get in traffic/town driving in both the D3 and D4. it only increaes when i get some good motorway runs... even on mway yesterday at 80mph i was getting an instand mpg of 28

Re pads - mine usually need replacing around 15-20k miles depending on how much HDC has been used. But, its always the front that wear quicker. at 15k miles there is only about 1mm difference though.. sounds like a caliper could be sticking but would be unlucky if both rear calipers were sticking - if they are the discs should be getting hot.

You should point your dealer towards LTB00380v2 - Rear Brake Squeal While Reversing.
New rear brake calliper carriers required.

Mine squeal in reverse whilst touching the brake ie "reversing down hill" is that the fault or is to do with them sqealing in reverse without the brake pedal being pressed?

sorry to hi jack thread.
