Engine system fault

I've not realy had many issues with my disco 3 but yesterday onthe way back from conwy north wales the dash lit up and a message appeared in the middle screen saying

"Engine system fault"

the power died off and the engine wouldn't rev at all, I was towing 3 ton at the time.
I pulled over on the hard shoulder had a quick look under the bonnet couldn't see owt so restarted the engine and she's been ok since, any ideas or could it just have been to big a right foot whilst coming up rualt hill with all the weight on???

I have noticed a slight missfire previous to this but haven't realy noticed owt else wrong!

Any ideas people???[/quote]

Scotland 2009 Discovery 3 TDV6 GS Manual Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

Look at the 'Hairy Moment' thread which has a copy of this in it:

Same has happened to me, happened 3 times on the same slight incline, and on motorways, a quick stop re start and it would be fine until it did it again. Mine was identified through the fault code as the turbo actuator, but as they do not just supply that part they replace the whole turbo, it was a two day job with tests, apparently it takes 3 hrs just to strip things down to get to the turbo. This is a common problem according to the technician who did one the week before. Only just been done under warranty so I will wait and see if it fixes the problem. I guess it could be pretty expensive out of warranty! My car is not even a year old and 7k miles on the clock!
