MY2009+ leather steering wheel |
|
Is it just my imagination, or is the new design of leather steering wheel a lot warmer to the touch than the old when it's freezing? Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?

I have been thinking exactly the same, that it was generaly warmer to touch than my 54 plate one, but only had mine for one day so far!

I can see the headline now:
Quote:Gas-Guzzling 4x4 steering wheels implicated in glacial melting drama.
"It felt so warm to the touch. The next thing I knew a dead polar bear had burst through my sunroof" says shocked schoolrun mum. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I thought it returned the heat of your fingers immediately and therefore felt warm, unlike the old one that dragged heat out like a mortician's slab for most of the journey. I always fancied a heated wheel; not sure I'd need one now.

Does anyone have any specific cleaning tips for this kind of wheel?
I was out clearing roads and handling road salt from the bunkers recently, and now I have a definite smell of fish coming from the steering wheel It's strong enough that you can smell it as soon as the doors open.
I shudder to think what was in the bunker...but what should I use to clean the wheel? It feels so nice I don't want to spoil it by putting something on it that changes its feel. Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Copious amounts of acetone is great for removing fishy smells from leather
Only joking, please don't do that
