Managed to pull a 40 T truck up hill on ice
The wagon making a delivery to Morrisons got stuck outside my office, asked how heavey said 35 to 40 tons artic, hitched up my tow rope, put it snow mode and pulled it up the hill, it didnt pull so well in low box, got to the top of the hill and we both stated to slide backwords even thought all the wheels were spinning forward, unhitched it quick and left him to it.
Sorry no pictures, what a car, might just have to order a disco 4.

How much weight do you think you are atually towing when doing this as i take it the truck is in gear and trying to get traction as you tow so its not a dead weight so to speak. Were you worried about the rope giving way under the strain or not?
The D3 is currently impressing alot of people across the country I think Badda bing.......How you doin'?

I'm impressed. Had a knock on my door a few nights ago. Some muppet took a short cut along my lane in his laguna and got stuck at the bottom of my hill... couldn't get up and couldn't get back - hill that way too. Down in a big dip. Worse had wife and 6m old daughter with him and it was cold...
Feeling smug drove him down the hill did an about turn and hitched him up. Do you think I could get him up my hill... hell no got one third of the way up and the ice defeated us both. Suppose I did not get up enough speed. The worst part was that inevidable sinking feeling when the D3 grinds to a halt and then starts gong backwards...
Anyway ended up taking the 6m old baby home a few miles further on.
Took mum and dad too though they were perhaps a bit less deserving!
The bit I liked the best was dad moaning that it was a disgrace that the local council didn't grit the road.... a 2 mile stretch of single track lane with 8 homes along it - to him an obv priority Disco4, BMW1200RT,
and Volvo XC70 estate (when my wife has the LR) also 2008 series Yellow Labrador

i have just dragged one of ASDA' home delivery Merc sprinter vans up our very steep cul de sac [surprised he came down] . Only just got it moving ,if the snow had been any deeper that i could not bite through to the tarmac it would not have done it!I was GGS 1st low BUT we have only got Khumo road tyres & he was not helping it was dead wieght!
ASDA man and 2 nieghbours were suitably impressed

I wonder if it was the same one I dragged out of our local Morrisons loading area and onto the main road the other day.

Ive got 20 inch Storm sport wheels with Cooper Zeon LTZ, excellent tyre for the snow, just been round sutton park in birmingham for a cup of coffe superb grip up all the hills where others couldnt make it, only problem is my she now wants to drive it as we havnt been able to get her merc off the drive since before Christmas, I think Ive talked her into a freeland 2, at least she can go to Tescos to get me some bottles Leffe.
