GRRRRR - f'in car
So I've got this lovely 4 wheel drive, its snowy and icy, and I've got my daughter and friends to take to swimming class - whey hey.
NOOOOOO - the car unlocks, but all the f'in doors are frozen shut, even though I've been out in it twice earlier today. I end up taking the kids 206 (which I must say never spun a wheel - suitably impressed)

Al, I feel your pain. Same this for me this am - pulled hard on the drivers door and it ripped the damn seal. Scheduled a call to TLO for tomorrow

could you not have poured some warm water on the seals?A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Heat the seals and you risk the 'warm' water freezing once you're in the car - then you'll be stuck inside the car instead 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7

use silicon oil or ptfe spray. All garages do that here as part of the winter service. Treat all exposed mechanical lock parts and rubber sealsThere's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

as usual, thought I'd just unlock it and go, so hadn't left enough time to start about. I thought about the silicon thing over night, so this morning I thought I'd try the hairdryer, blow some warm air around them, dry them off, then apply some silicon spray.

Al, a picture of you standing outside the house this morning in your dressing gown and furry slippers running the hairdryer over the car has just brought a smile to my face A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Any tips on keeping the snow all around out when you do get the doors open? Seems to rush in even when you clear the roof....

As much as I dont want to shatter tanters illusions, I didnt have to resort to hairdryer and furry slippers. A bit of winter sun has warmed it up, and all doors and tailgate now open. I've dried them all, and used a bit of silicone spray on all the rubbers, both bodyside and doorside. Hope this will work.
