Reduced Performance on D4 HSE - Again & Again |
|
We have a D4 HSE that has covered 2500 miles. Three weeks ago the dreaded "Reduced Performance" warning came up whilst my wife was driving on the way to school. LR Assist came out and spent three hours diagnosing, fixing and road testing the car. The very nice chap said that the Turbo vane control valve had stuck and he had fixed it and cleared all the fault codes. And off he went.
Next morning, guess what? "Reduced Performance" came up. We limped home and rang Land Rover Assist up. This time they agreed to recover the car and arranged to deliver an Enterprise hire car the next day. The car was recovered to Hillendale (Great service department but really poor sales side) and I got a newish RR Sport 3.0. 14 days later I got the car back - they initially replaced the valve but then it failed again so they put a new turbo on it. Had the car back 48 hours and it has just come up with "Reduced Performance".
My Wife has now completely lost confidence in the car (we had a 2.7 HSE for 60,000 miles and not a problem). I must admit that I really don't want to drive down to the Alps with it. I'm in the trade (we sell refrigerated vans) so I know both sides of the argument here. We love the car and we really want to keep it but it has to work consistently or else it is just no good to me.
The car is on a 9 months rental from Land Rover UK so I would be rejecting it to Land Rover themselves if it came down to it. But, as I said before, I want them to fix it rather than take it away.
Has anyone got any ideas of what we should do next?
