Hesitance on acceleration from rest
I've noticed a hesitance on acceleration from rest especially when not fully warmed up. Not a "pedal to the metal" heavy right foot, just pulling out at junctions with modest acceleration.
There's a definite flat spot before the power kicks in. The car has only 1,200 miles on it.
Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions?Paul

Not really noticed any hesitation on mine (1100 miles) - it seems just as responsive as my 320CDI Merc. I did however notice something similar on my test drive where it seemed to hesitate entering a roundabout. The hesitation was just long enough for me to hit the accelerator a bit harder and then it leapt into the roundabout at quite a scary speed
At the time I put it down to me being in an unfamiliar car. LR make a big thing about the amount of power/torque available from idle so if it is hesitating I'd be tempted to get it checked out at the dealer.

I will ask the dealer to check it out. I also had a 320CDI Merc before and that always pulled away without hesitation. Your experience at the roundabout on the test drive is exactly what I am getting.Paul

Hi,
I've had my D4 for a couple of weeks now and have noticed the same slight hesitation at junctions and roundabouts from time to time. It only seems to happen if you go to pull out, stop, and then accelerate again. Not serious but a bit disconcerting at times. Funny thing a similar things happens with a friends VW Golf with the DSG auto box. Anyway I'm pleased it's not just me and my poor driving! I'll mention when next in the dealership.

Never got round to checking it out, as a re-map came early in my ownership, but what happens if you select SPORT mode on approach to the roundabout?
There WAS an engine response lag in the un-mapped D3 but I always wondered if additionally the 'box stayed in 2nd as you coast up to the roundabout?
A2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

Press and hold the foot brake, press to the floor the throttle untill the limiter of 2000rpm and then let go of the foot brake and your awwwaaaaaayyyyy
Lauch control for your D4 lol, probabaly not to good for it though.

command shift 1st gear then as pete bell says. floor it, the auto will change up automatically at 4000 rpm.

I had this on my D3, it was one of the reasons I got rid of it. It has been the topic of much discussion in the past, it was down to the ZF gearbox I bought an X5 years later and it had the same issue as do most autos witha ZF gearbox. My D3 had an ECU remap it helped, but don't be fooled as it didn't cure the problem it was still there.
I'm really tempted into buying another Disco as I just love everything else about them and was curious if the problem had been solved - didn't take long to find it hasn't.

In fact, if I had to choose I would say that my Merc. 320 has more lag (albeit not a lot) than the D4.
I never noticed any lag in the Merc. before I got the D4 and I suspect that it only seems noticeable now because the D4 has no noticable lag in normal driving.
If that is the main thing holding you back from buying a Disco, I would recommend a test drive in a D4 3.0 - just remember to take your cheque book

I best not do that, last time I went for a test drive I drove the D3 and that was it I had to have it.

Hesitation in pulling away
My Disco 4 3.0 HSE has this problem, and it can be scary when I go to pull out at busy junctions. Often nothing happens when I go for the gas, then about 2 seconds or longer and BANG, off it goes as the transmission grabs at around 2000 rpm. If something's coming towards you it is not good at all. Of course the dealer says there's nothing wrong with it!
It seems to happen most when I slow and then stop for a junction, wait a very short time, then go for it, and "it" isn't there. Doesn't seem to happen from park brake. I've tried it in sport mode but no noticeable difference.
Any other posts on this? Anyone found a fix?

Mine had this problem found to be a faulty corulater switch.
. Dealer seeemd to think known issue due to faulty batch being supplied.
