Nice job Thumbs Up wish the kit was available when I installed mine!
All the same, Bow down for dedication and effort!

Hi 10,

Thanks for the kind words, here's the plan, you sell your winch and stuff, buy this kit for half the money and i will come over and fit it with you. Then we can go for a nice drive in the country
wish it were that simple..... Sad I now have an nicely hacked about bumper cover, courtesy of LR fitting instructions Rolling Eyes , still, you're more than welcome to come for a drive anytime Wink - and take the pi$$ out of my winch mounting Laughing

Might just take you up on that offer sometime, I would never take the pi$$ or be critical about anyone's work, your winch system looks fine and i am sure it is very functional.
I just thought i would approch it in a different way, i am sure that when stuck halfway up a mountain in the rain and it getting dark, both winches would save the day just fine.

true, they both do the same job - (hopefully) get you out of the $hit!, the LR version is more 'in yer face' that's all... goes well with the other G4 stuff but looks out of place on it's own - and ruins the lines of the D3 IMHO, nice to see a covert installation though, something to be proud of eh? Wink
p.s. what are you doing on the 11th & 12th of June?

Gentlemen, I suggest you all quit harping on Mr. Christyle regarding saftey, insurance, warrentee and the like.
I don't agree that's what's happening here NW. Other than my own observation that the winch carrier doesn't appear to offer the same protection as the original bumper nothing else has really been said other than complimenting Chris's work. If Chris says it's as good as the original then I'll not argue with that, from the photos it doesn't appear so but appearances can be deceptive. Chris has done an excellent job. The End

NW, Chris's willingness to participate in this forum to discuss modifications would always naturally invite similar questions to those asked.

I'm sure that Chris anticipated some of the questions, including those about safety, which, to some, is an important aspect in any modification. Forum members would want an understanding of those implications as much as learning how to fit the winch, if they so desire - or even just saying how nice a job it is.

All questions thus far have been legitimate as far as I can see, and Chris has answered all comments in a very constructive manner - so please..... don't write a script expecting us to just w*nk him off for doing a good job !

@10forCash

Could you post a picture of the bottom of the D3 + Winch?
When I got it back I got a strange feeling about the intercooler protection.

After our LROC day, this was the result in sand, but what if on rocks/mud ?

I agree, but I do wonder if this is realy the way LR intended it to be?
Or did my dealer forgot something?

Yes he did, the original plastic guard should have a cut out for the recovery point then refitted using two brackets that come with the winch. Take a look at the fitting instructions on http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com to see what I mean

not quite sure what you mean by the "front bar" but the cable exits through a standard plasma rope type hawser.

Unnecessary quote removed

If i remember rightly it was about £400.00. If you have a laser cutter and bender that can bend tight bends in 8mm steel plate you could probably make one. the quality and finnish on this one is great.
It sits about 30mm behind the bumper cover.
