Hello Folks,
Well I've just put down the deposit on a Stornoway Grey D4 HSE, which should be touching down at my dealer next week. I did want the the surround cameras, heated steering wheel and rear seat entertainment, but didn't fancy waiting 4 months for that spec ... So I'm getting a bog stock HSE, to which I'll add the tow bar and look for after market DVD and screens for the kids in the back.
I've been lusting after a Disco since D3 days, but found the D3 just a little sluggish. Whilst the D4 is no Ferrarri, it has more than enough pep in it's step to keep me happy (and safe!). This is my second foray into the world of Land Rover, having previously owned a Freelander HSE auto, back in 2005. I'm chopping in my Mercedes R320 CDI sport for the D4.
So, I'm looking forward to consulting the collective wisdom of the forum when my D4 arrives, and I'll try not to ask too many stupid questions without searching old threads first
Cheers,
iPaul

sounds good,
Great choice of colour, the best colour of the lot
I'm looking for a D4 commercial atm but none of the dealers I see seem to know toffee about them, as for the aftermarket screens, good choice. I've found that aftermarket systems often allow you more control with specification then the standard ones do. I fit them for a living so contact me if you want any advice.
Many Thanks

Thanks for the welcome. I'll keep the 24th clear in my diary. It would be good to meet up and see some modded discos in the metal.
Cheers,
Paul

Collecting my new Disco tomorrow! Will try and get along to the Fairmile on the 24th, as soon as I've finished at my daughter's school parents evening in Surbiton.

D3 with the JE engineering re-map, turns out almost same power and torque as the D4 3.0L V6.
And once mapped if you drive her nicely you can achieve 35mpg!!!
Not sure how much extra power you could get on a D4 re-mapped by JE? Anyone know ?

Re-mapped D3 still lacks the instant pull away that a D4 has because it only has one large turbo. I had my D3 re-mapped and had two different tuning "boxes"(not at the same time ) and it still bogged down at low rpm. The D4 has peak torque available at relatively low engine speeds making it much brisker.
Never ever got better than around 24mpg from my D3 manual whichever tuning system I used. Worst was a Van AAken box which was quickest but consumption down to 21mpg 2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE

The thread to watch is http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic41933.html but I'd be expecting close to 300BHP and the potential for bits of transmission all over the floor if they manage the normal percentage torque increases!
