Prop shaft humm?
Hi, I have a 2006 4.4V8 HSE with 25k miles on the clock. Lots of start stop traffic.
Recently I have noted a resonating humm humm sound from the front left of my Disco3 travelling at around 80kph to 95 kph with the RPM betweek 1500 to 1650.
Its a constanly humm... humm... sound, combination of the V8 hum, but not constant hum, becasuse it as if its some rotating parts.
Is it the gearbox or the prop shaft? which co-incidently located around the front left area?
Can a dry up front axle cause this kind of sound?
It's not that loud, I would like to get it solve before it becomes WONG WONG WONG....
BTW, the set of Goodyear wangler are new... should not be the tyres.
Could be your front diff, wheel bearings, transfer box, gear box or none of the above. Do you have a LR dealer nearby? They can fix some diagnostic "ears" on all the suspect components to determine which is at fault...Andy
Sound like a possible diff going wrong.
