Interior Colour

When I ordered my D4 I was very very tempted by the Almond interior. In the end I opted for Ebony simply because I thought that it would be more practical.

I'm so glad I made this choice. The Almond interior comes with cream carpets, and I noticed a dealers demo with Almond where the seats were already getting the grimy look and the carpets were showing marks, compared to my car which still looks pristine.

The metal interior finishes, mood lights and control lights alleviate the black really well. The car feels smart and high-tech, and will keep it's freshness much longer.

Well, that's my opinion anyway! Laughing

I got a funny reaction when I ordered the Ebony interior for my D4. It seemed that I was out of step as the normal colour with Nara Bronze is Almond. Hence build to order and not a stock item

With my dog and the stuff I carry, Almond would totally impractical.

I like both colours, but have gone for almond. I have a cream colour on my current D3 and even with 2 young children, dont find it shows the stains any worse. Baby sick even blends with the cream Smile

I find black trims a little too dark for my taste, and prefer light airy and bright cabins. I also think the almond is a touch 'classier' on this type of car but its all subjective.

You seem to see a lot more LR vehicles specced with cream interiors than say German brands e.g. most X5's have black leather, not sure why that is?

The "light airy and bright" thing was what tempted me to go for Almond, but in practice I have not found Ebony dark or oppressive at all, especially on the HSE with sunroofs everywhere. And at night it does come through well with the lighting against the darker background.

It's all about personal taste really - the practicality thing was the decider for me though. A few years ago I had a Jag XJR with oatmeal colour leather, and even though I kept it in very clean condition the leather never looked as fresh as the black equivalent in my recent Mercedes.

I've always been a black leather man Whistle

However have gone for the light interior and loving it Thumbs Up

Not sure how long the floor mats will last (can always replace with black rubber Whistle )

Since we sail at a former sand/gravel pit, you can imagine what colour the interior of our cars tends to be anyway, so I figured I might as well just go with the flow... Almond and arabica it was, with rubber mats from the D3 to keep the worst off! Looking good so far 8)

Especially with the black exterior I think the ebony interior would be a bit overpowering - it's certainly a lot darker than the dark cloth on the D3

I have black with black and due to the headlineing being light and all the glass even without a sunroof it is not too dark. With the other cars i looked at BMW 5 series M sport. With the black option you were just looking out into the sunlight and this is not the case with the D4.

Almond leather and carpets are not as light as it appears in the photos and a more practical colour (IMHO) than Alpacca. They certainly aren't "cream" coloured in real life.

LR have managed to give the tone of the Almond leather & carpets a slightly "muddy" background tint - which actually works a treat and makes real dirt not stand out nearly as much as you might expect. Indeed I would almost go so far to say as dirt stands out almost as much on a black background as it does on the Almond background.

Its like your carpets at home - a black carpet would show lots of dirt, whereas that slightly dull nutty straw coloured carpet you have in your living room never looks really dirty.

All in all - the D4 colours and fit & finish are really impressing me more & more as we use them.

I understood the carpet was Nutmeg with the Almond seats.

Graeme - in our car the seats and the carpets are about the same colour (which I thought was called Almond). The Nutmeg bit is (I think) the top of the dash board. I stand to be corrected though. Here is a picture of our interior :

I think the photo makes the seats and carpets look lighter than they really are. The drivers door trim in this picture is slightly in shade and that is closer to what the colour looks like. Mind you, in the bright Aussie sunshine - it might look a whole lot lighter than in the Northumberland & Cumbrian world of greyness.....

I'm not 100% on the trim colour of nutmeg\arabica to be honest. Dealers say that the door tops are light on almond/nutmeg and dark like in the pic above on almond/arabica. Brochure seems to say the same but the LR configurator on their website has them the other way round.

Yep, arabica is the dark dash and door top colour. Funny how the almond always comes up a bit washed out in pictures - the drivers door in the shade does do it more justice.

Had the first real test of the light interior today - trip to Avebury with 3 and 6 year old niece and nephew, in-laws and my 11 year old, plus rather more rain than ideal... All looks pretty good at the end of it - and I'm sure black carpets would look a lot worse with all that chalky mud, at least judging by how well the splashes show on the exterior!

From the quote below from the UK Product Brief for the D4 & 2010 RRS, I expected the carpets to not be particularly light.

The Almond interior colour, introduced at 09MY, is complimented by a choice of either Nutmeg (mid-tone) or Arabica (dark-tone) upper environments. For vehicles featuring an Almond interior, the luggage compartment trim and the carpet will be in a lighter 'Nutmeg' in place of the Ebony colour featured on 09MY.
