rear roof tailight removal....? |
|
hi!
can anyone help me by telling me how to remove my rear roof tailight?
I am assuming my bulb has gone because the rear roof tailight has stopped working, i did want to replace the whole unit as it is also cracked.
i have tried to 'shift' it away by levering it but dont know if this is the right way and i also do not want to damage the surrounding paint!
thanks,
tally

Its glued on, and I dont think it is possible to remove it intact. Its unlikely to be a bulb, as its full of LED's.

Yea I am afraid Gareth may be rspot on. I say afraid, because i really need to get mine off too and there is nowt wrong with it, but it seems that to access the GPS antennea you need to do it, and i need to fit one on mine.
It seems like it is bonded on just like one of the screens, using a tough specialist Eurathene sealant that can only be cut through using a hot knife like tool or perhaps sawed through using a cheese wire like tool.
Sort of specialist wind screen replacement stuff.
However unlike a screen, the rear high level light is made of plastic not glass and so might not appreciate the heat aspect of a hot knife approach, and also unlike a wind screen, it is very curvy and wavy, and you cant really get to the inside either, which sort of rules out the cheese wire approach.
So as i say, despite having all the technical bumph that simply says remove it, i cant see any other way to remove it than using not so specialist neanderthal tools, that is bound to do little more than prove how spot on Gareth is in saying
