Removing roof comms pod phone mast |
|
I've an 06 D3 which has PTI fitted - and has the lump on the roof. As this only contains a GSM antenna - & I use a bluetooth phone - can the roof pod be removed?
I think my only concern is what's left behind after removal - guess there'll be a hole - can this be bunged readily or should I leave the pod & worry about more important things in life...
thanks,

Leave it in place if i was you.
Less hassle and less chance of water entering.

Having just fitted one of these yesterday,I am assuming its the LR fin unit we are talking here,I can tell you its a bit of a to get at!!!. Roof lining down at the back required which means pulling off trim on rear pillars to allow sufficient movement-no issue until you have to try and push fit the trim back on,clips breaking a plenty (Nick expect a call from me tomorrow............)
Once you have removed the unit you will need the roof blanking plate to replace externally what was previously fitted to ensure the hole and surrounding area are sealed- guess either breakers or Nick @ Yeovil LR could help.
Overall if it was me I would say leave it alone, looks 8) IMHO
